Was $899.99

Comments: If you’re on a tight budget, the Victus offers great value at this price.

The RTX 4050 is fine for 1080p gaming at medium-high settings in most cases, just make use of DLSS to get the most out of it.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti 12GB

RAM: 16GB DDR5

Display: 16” 2560 × 1600 240Hz

SSD: 1TB

$1299.99 at Walmart
Save $700.99 (35%) - Record Low!
Was $1999.99

Comments: This is the cheapest we’ve ever seen an RTX 5070 Ti gaming laptop on sale for. Combined with a 16 core/32 thread processor, there’s lots of power here.

MSI’s Vector isn’t a premium gaming laptop or anything, but it was pretty decent we reviewed it earlier this year. But it is worth noting the 8940HX won’t offer great battery life.

The 5070 Ti’s 12GB VRAM will provide better longevity in future games compared to the lower tier 5070 with 8GB below it.

This price is normally what we see 5070 laptops go for, but the 5070 Ti is over 30% faster in games. If you want even more power, the RTX 5080 option is also currently at a record low price of $1899.

Plus Walmart have extended holiday returns until January 31st, so there’s pretty much no risk picking up this deal before Black Friday. If there’s a better deal, or some new laptop announced at CES in early January, you can just return it.

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5090 24GB

RAM: 32GB DDR5-6400

Display: 16” 2560 × 1600 240Hz OLED

SSD: 2TB

$3099.99 at B&H
Save $900 (23%) - Record Low!
Was $3999.99

Comments: Definitely on the more expensive side, but if you’re after maximum performance from a premium gaming laptop, Lenovo’s Legion Pro 7i did extremely well in our review.

That said, the lower tier RTX 5080 version is also on sale for $2399, which is a fair bit cheaper without too much less performance. We measured the 5090 at just 16% faster than the 5080.

Video of the Week - The Best 18” Gaming Laptops

I’ve compared the best 18” gaming laptop from 7 different brands, find out which are the best and which are the worst in my recent comparison 👇

Tip of the Week - Which Screen Size is Best?

At the end of the day this comes down to personal preference, but here are some things to consider:

  • Small: Smaller 14 inch gaming laptops are great if you’re on the go, but at the compromise of a smaller screen. They also have less upgrade options, just one M.2 slot for storage upgrades with soldered memory is pretty standard.

  • Medium: 15 and 16 inch gaming laptops offer a great sweet spot. They usually offer enough upgrade options (e.g. 2x M.2 slots, 2x RAM sticks, 1x Wi-Fi card), enough ports, and have a slightly bigger screen which is better for most people while not being too much bigger or heavier.

  • Large: I think it’s fair to say that objectively, bigger 18 inch screens just look better to play games on - at least that’s our experience! But these laptops take up more space with limited bag options available, and they’re heavier to carry around day to day. But they act great as a desktop replacement if you’re not moving around too frequently - think people working rotations away from home for weeks at a time.

For me, the portability trade off of a big screen isn’t worth it, as I only use laptops when traveling. But if you’re not moving the machine around as much, a bigger laptop might offer more ports, even more upgrade options (think 3x or 4x M.2 slots, up to 4x RAM slots), and potentially bigger coolers for more performance.

I used to use a 14” laptop for travel, but I’ve gone back to 16” recently as I don’t like hunching over the smaller screen. But let us know which you prefer and why?
